“Jammin’ with Jamie” Theme: “Jamie’s Favorite Jams (Part 2)”!

Hi, everyone!

Our final Jammin’ with Jamie jam session is this Saturday, June 13, from 6:00 to 9:00 am!

Well… here we are.

From the instant I found out I was going to be on the air for the first time in October 2011––– before the show was even called Jammin’ with Jamie––– I knew the show would have an end date.

I expected the end date to be “as soon as someone other than my parents heard my voice on an audio-only medium.”

I had to re-apply for my slot three times a year, so for a while, there was also the possibility that someone else would get the slot.

But at this point, I’m moving on to a new chapter in my life. I’m filled with that trademark mix of excitement and worry that comes every time you embark on a new start––– something I always encourage you Jammers to do on my show, making sure I always give you the proper motivational melodies to get stuck in your head and give you that extra push when you need it.

I want to assure all of you: the last time I sign off of Jammin’ with Jamie isn’t the last you’ll hear from me. In fact, it’s just the beginning. Make sure you keep checking this website, my Twitter, and my YouTube account, and we can keep up with each other’s adventures together!

So with that, I give you our final Jammin’ with Jamie jam session theme. Are you ready?

… “Jamie’s Favorite Jams (Part 2)”!

We’re going to wrap up our jammin’ time together with a grand finale of many of my favorite songs! If you have a favorite song, request it!

So far, the tunes we’ll be jammin’ to this week come courtesy of my favorite artists, films, TV shows, and stage shows. Which ones? If you’ve ever jammed with us before, you probably have some guesses… and they’re probably right. But as our most loyal Jammers know, you still never know quite what you’ll hear on Jammin’ with Jamie!

What an amazing early chapter in my career this has been. Growing up, I always thought about how cool it would be to have a show named after you: I Love Lucy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, etc. Little did I know that someday, I’d have a show bearing my own name… even though I’m the one who named the show. But in my defense, I racked my brain for months trying to find a unifying theme to serve as the title and kept coming up empty. A friend of mine spontaneously suggested I call it “Jams with Jamie,” and from that Saturday onward, our previously-unnamed timeslot became Jammin’ with Jamie.

As much as I love to joke that only my parents are listening (and may even be asleep), the reality is, our Jammers have expanded to not only extended family, friends, and former teachers, but people who don’t even know me personally. Some have stumbled upon us by accident, and enjoyed jammin’ with us enough to keep coming back for our jam sessions every week: others found out about us via Twitter.

We at 89.3 WNUR FM pride ourselves on being a unique, independent radio station: a sort of “hidden gem” on your dial. The block of programming I’m a part of, due to our extreme late night and early morning timeslots, has the most freedom out of any block, making us a “hidden gem” within the station itself. I’m so incredibly grateful to have been a part of an environment that allowed us to be the odd show in the odd programming block on the odd station.

I hope you consider jammin’ with us this week! If you’d like more information about the show and how you can tune in and jam with us, you can find everything you need right here!

Thank you for reading, listening, and jammin’,
Jamie Lee
